Campus Life, the Center for Community Engagement, Housing & Residential Education, and Veterans Affairs have collaborated on a cross-divisional initiative that will contribute to building a culture of service at CI. Serve It Up, a yearlong program, will provide the CSU Channel Islands community with service opportunities in Ventura County. All participants will be provided with a Serve It Up t-shirt, a meal, transportation and an opportunity to participate in several days of service. Events include:

Student Service Summit: Saturday, August 26, 2017

The 5th annual Student Service Summit’s primary focus is to aid student success by assisting incoming first year and transfer students with a successful social transition in the first week of school. New students can network with peers in a purposeful way, learn the value of community engagement, meet student leaders and staff members, and gain exposure to campus culture.

United Way Day of Caring: Saturday, September 16, 2017

Each year, the CI community participates in United Way’s annual Day of Caring, an event which brings together CI students, staff and faculty along with thousands of other volunteers to help nonprofit organizations in the community with a variety of tasks.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., join us for a day of service with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County.

To remember the work and life of César Chavez, our final service day is spent in the community as we come together and reflect on the impact of this great leader. RSVP information will be posted closer to the date.
