Kindai University (PDF, 877KB) is a private, non-sectarian university that focuses on providing opportunities for learning and research in a wide range of disciplines in the arts and sciences. Kindai offers a total of fourteen faculties. Their focus is to offer learning "for the real world", focusing on creating advances for the world in complex food supply, energy, and enviornmental issues.

 Kindai University is one of the nation's largest with six campuses around western Japan. The main campus is located in Osaka, often referred to as Higashiosaka Campus, which is located fifteen minutes away from the business center of Osaka and only one hour away from Kyoto, Nara, or Kobe by train.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 3.0 or above cumulative GPA**
  • Your major OR minor must be one of the following: Business Administration; Economics; Literature, Arts & Cultural Studies; Law; Education; and International Studies
  • Although CI students do not need to have Japanese language units to be eligible to apply, students who are accepted must take a Japanese Language course at Kindai University during their study abroad semester.

**Students with a cumulative GPA below the stated GPA will be considered when special circumstances exist. Please contact the Study Abroad Advisor at for more info.

Upon Acceptance Required Paperwork

  • Designated health insurance must be purchased through CI's Risk Management Office upon acceptance.  The coverage must be for the entire duration of your program.  Your admittance status is dependent on the purchase of the desinated insurance.
