Kaitlyn Cotton exemplifies the values of community engagement at CSUCI. As a two-year CI-AmeriCorps member, Kaitlyn dedicated over 600 hours of service to the California Conservation Corps (CCC), mentoring CCC young adults and assisting in rewriting a career curriculum kit. In Social Business 301, Kaitlyn helped to create a social business plan for Cafe on A designed to produce a sustainable revenue stream to support their mission. As a committed volunteer, she gives selflessly of her time -- mentoring high school freshmen, tutoring peers, gleaning produce for FoodShare, and participating in blanket and clothing drives. As Community Engagement Ambassador for the Center for Community Engagement, Kaitlyn developed and organized student experiences to raise awareness about community issues, including her key roles in days of service at CI. Her efforts have made a significant contribution to the culture of service at CI.
