Dear Campus Community,

I write to you this afternoon to express my sincerest appreciation for your leadership, empathy and kindness during this time of uncertainty and transition to virtual learning.  While we all find ourselves in the midst of a global public health crisis, one of the things I most value about CSU Channel Islands is our abiding sense of community.  We are a community that has demonstrated time and again that we are resilient and creative and capable of surmounting any obstacle before us.

As I have indicated in previous messages, we have had multiple working groups actively planning to respond to COVID-19 since January.  Along the way, we have resolved many questions, but many others have arisen in their place.  Please know that we are working diligently and expeditiously to address each of these in close collaboration with our academic, student and staff leadership, the Office of the Chancellor and our many partners in Ventura County and throughout the State of California who are working just as diligently to do the same.

The Provost, your Divisional Vice President, or faculty will continue to update you with detailed information regarding our upcoming transition to virtual learning and you can find all of the most up to date information on our COVID 19 website or at vcemergency.com

While the journey ahead is sure to be challenging, dynamic, and ever changing, I am certain that by working together, we will rise once again to find the creative and compassionate solutions that we need to ensure a brighter and more equitable future for our students.

Thank you for your patience, wisdom and collaboration.

Sincerely,

Erika D. Beck, Ph.D.
President
