Dear Campus Community:

We learned today that a student has a positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19). This individual was on the campus on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, is not a residential student and is now in self-isolation at their off-campus residence. Any campus buildings visited by the individual have been closed until thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Due to personal privacy laws, the University is unable to release the individual’s identity and are unable to provide more specific information. We hope you understand and respect their right to privacy.

Consistent with protocols for infectious disease response we are coordinating our efforts with Ventura County Public Health who has statutory responsibility for managing COVID-19 cases in Ventura County. Anyone identified as having had close contact with this individual has been or will be notified immediately if they need to self-quarantine and self-monitor for signs of illness.

In accordance with U.S. Department of Education guidelines, if there are any additional confirmed campus cases, please note that we will not provide separate communication to the campus community but the information will be available on our website. However, individuals who have had close contact with an infected individual will be notified immediately.

This Emergency Notification is in compliance with the U.S. Federal 1998 Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act requirements and is intended to inform all new and returning students, faculty and staff of how and where to obtain important information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
