April 8, 2021

Dear Dolphins,

We are excited to have you join the CSU Channel Islands Dolphin Pod this coming August! The light at the end of the tunnel grows brighter every day, and we are optimistic that better times are within reach.

As recently announced by Governor Newsomon June 15 all industries across the state —including schools and institutions of higher education  should conduct full-time, in person instruction, in compliance with Cal/OHSA emergency temporary standards and public health guidelines, as well as following common-sense risk reduction measures such as masking and vaccinations

As we move forward, we are busy preparing for the 2021 Fall semester with the goal of returning to our beautiful campus. Our planning continues to assume a return to campus that aims to bring back in-person instruction, activities, programs, and student support services, allowable under State and Ventura County Public Health guidelines.

These plans include reducing the capacity in our academic facilities to ensure safe social distancing, mandating the wearing of masks, practicing good personal hygiene, sanitizing our facilities, and encouraging vaccinations, to name a few.

While we cannot predict with certainty the trajectory of COVID-19 positivity rates and progress toward herd immunity, we are making plans informed by public health experts and will adjust campus operations as necessary based on the course of the pandemic. The learning, wellness and success of our students remains our top priority.

Information about some student town halls being planned regarding the Fall semester will be shared soon. Please continue to visit our Fall 2021 Semester Planning webpage for additional updates as we solidify our plansIn the meantime, stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you on campus this coming Fall!

Sincerely,
Mitch Avila, Ph.D.
Provost
