Nov. 22, 2021

Dear Campus Community:

We are wishing you well as we approach the holiday season and the home stretch of the Fall semester. We are incredibly proud of the steps you have taken to keep COVID-19 infection cases low across the CSUCI community through vaccination, testing and masking.

Many of you may plan to travel or gather with family or friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. We recommend you get tested within 72 hours prior to traveling or gathering and again within 72 hours of your return to campus. Consider CDC Safer Ways to Celebrate Holidays to minimize risk to family and friends during celebrations. This will help us finish out the semester with continued low rates of transmission and protect friends and family in other communities.

Testing before and after the holiday weekend is highly recommended regardless of vaccination status, for all housing-students, in-person students, faculty, and staff.

Testing is free and available before and expanded to the whole week after the Holiday break.

Register for an appointment at Petite Salon 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for:

  • 22, 23, 29, 30
  • Dec 1, 2, & 3

Additional testing resources:
COVID-19 Testing Sites in California
COVID-19 Testing by State

If you test positive or if you are unvaccinated and have been exposed as a close contact to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you will need to isolate/quarantine for at least 10 days from the onset of symptoms (or test date if asymptomatic) to prevent spreading the virus and submit a COVID report.

Finally, we want to encourage you to get a flu shot if you have not already done so. You can schedule an appointment through your local pharmacy or the VCPH County clinic website.

Thank you for your support as we protect our CSUCI community together!

With gratitude,
Joyce Spencer, M.P.H.
Director of Environmental Health & Safety
