Scholarship, Fellowship, and other Funding Opportunities

  • The Doreen J. Putrah Travel Fellowship for STEM students
  • Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research program
  • CI's Student Research Advisory Committee manages travel awards for students who must travel to a conference to present results of their work.  Awards of $500 are available for local conferences, $750 for non-local conferences.  Contact Matt Cook for information.

Campus Workshops

Friday 18 September, 9-11am.  "How to apply for a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program award."  A two-session workshop for students who are planning to attend graduate school in STEM and their mentor and want to apply for this NSF fellowship.  The workshop will introduce participants to the NSF GRF program, review the application instructions, and give students guidance on how to write a competitive proposal.  A follow-up meeting will occur on Friday 2 October, 9-11am.  Find more information, including how to register for the workshop, here.  The workshop is free for CI students and faculty. 

Miscellaneous Information

Sometimes, there's paperwork students need to complete to be allowed to travel, to be allowed to get paid, etc.  Here are some commonly requested documents:

  • The CSU Channel Islands' Liability Waiver is often required before participating in University sponsored travel (MS Word doc)
  • A Std 205 form is often required to get paid
