Scholarships for students with children

  • Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund: This is awarded to low-income women 35 years and older who are U.S. citizens pursuing their first degree. It is available to students pursuing a bachelor's, an associate's, or a vocational degree.
  • The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation: This foundation offers awards to low-income women to assist with school expenses and tuition. Applicants must be parents of at least one minor child and must be at least 17 years old. Awards are given for bachelor's, associate's, or vocational degrees or certificates. The foundation provides up to five $5,000.00 awards annually.
  • Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards: This award is exclusively for mothers who are the primary breadwinners for their families and who have overcome hardship such as domestic violence, alcohol and drug use, and/or poverty. The organization awards over $1.5 million in scholarships annually. Domestic awards range from $3,000 to $5,000; three international awards are available at $10,000 each.

    • Camarillo Trolley: A free trolley bus service is available on Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m. The service provides convenient, air-conditioned transportation to Camarillo retail and dining destinations.
  • CI is almost exactly half-way between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, two vibrant and thriving centers of arts, culture and entertainment. Both are only about 1 hour by car, or better yet: take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train or Metrolink from Camarillo to beat the traffic and enjoy the SoCal scenery in speed and comfort.

    Camarillo has a wide selection of tasty dining options, from locally caught fish to barbecued tri-tip, from Mexican to Mongolian. Take a stroll down Ventura Boulevard in Old Town Camarillo to find your new favorite spot or wander further afield to explore the food truck scene in Oxnard’s Plaza Park or classic beach shack dining at Neptune’s Net on Pacific Coast Highway.

    Our region provides a cornucopia of some of the world’s best produce. Pick up seasonal, organic produce at the certified Farmers’ Market in old Town Camarillo every Saturday. Be sure to sample the strawberries, citrus and avocados that Ventura County is known for.

    Camarillo has several movie theaters featuring everything from latest Hollywood blockbuster to independent, art-house cinema.

    CI is near plenty of great beaches just minutes from our Camarillo campus to stretch out and soaking up the sun with your student.

    Great shopping abounds at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, and plenty of other shopping opportunities in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks.
