Information Security Responsibilities

Information security is the responsibility of anyone who accesses University systems including students, faculty, staff, guests, contractors, and employees of auxiliary organizations. Each person connected to, or using University information systems is responsible for ensuring that their use meets California State University standards of acceptable use, and must take adequate measures to prevent unauthorized use.

The Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer (CIO) bears final responsibility for information security on the Channel Islands campus.

Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer (CIO)

The President has delegated authority to manage all aspects of information security to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). As the President’s designee, the Chief Information Officer has appointed an Information Security Officer (ISO) to take responsibility for the campus information security strategy.

The campus’s Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer is James August.

Information Security Officer

The Chief Information Officer has appointed an Information Security Officer (ISO) to take responsibility for the campus information security strategy.

The campus Information Security Officer is Carlos Miranda.

Information Security Program

CSU Channel Islands will establish an information security program that employs administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the University’s information assets.

The information security program serves the mission of the University by preventing the loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of campus information assets.
