CI Learn/Canvas - Access CI Learn/Canvas via your myCI to manage course content and interact with instructors and classmates. It provides free online access to assignments, syllabuses, discussion forums, class lists, announcements and more.

Zoom - Collaborate virtually on class projects and video chat with your classmates and instructors using this free web conferencing tool. Available in your myCI Dashboard.

CI Docs - Collaborate with instructors and classmates in the cloud using your free Google Drive account to share files with unlimited storage. Available in your myCI Dashboard.

Basic Tech Requirements

  • Device (computer, laptop, tablet) which meets CSUCI requirements
  • Stable high-speed internet connection (DSL, cable, CI, eduroam)
  • Current versions of a web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome
  • Up-to-date Java and Flash plugins

Virtual Toolset

CI Learn/Canvas is CSUCI’s free learning management system. Your online classes in CI Learn will serve as a hub for all the course content and activities. Learning Online 101 will give you the help and practice for successfully using CI Learn/Canvas. Contact the Solution Center at 805-437-8552 for additional support.

Zoom A free video, audio and chat collaboration tool used. It allows for video, audio, and screen sharing between participants. It can be used from any computer, laptop, tablet, or phone, and it works on PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices. View the Zoom Best Practices and Support Guide.

CI Docs Powered by Google Apps and available in your myCI Dashboard. Create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms through your web browser.

DolphinMail Powered by Google and available in your myCI Dashboard, DolphinMail is the free student email system for CSU Channel Islands. It is one of the official means of communication between the University and its students.

Turnitin (available within CI Learn) A free originality checking and plagiarism service.

VoiceThread (available within CI Learn) A free asynchronous engagement tool where students can share and discuss various media files and discuss using the audio, video, and text comments. Check out this helpful Student Guide for usage tips.

Mobile Learning Apps

CI Learn/Canvas app is a mobile app that allows you to access and complete coursework on a mobile device.

Zoom’s video conferencing platform is easily used on a mobile device. Download the Zoom mobile app and login with csuci credentials through MyCI.

VoiceThread also provides a mobile way to ease participation in Voicethread conversations.

Library Services

The Library has access to digital materials available to you on and off campus to assist you with your remote coursework. Laptop checkouts, Interlibrary Loans, online materials and tools, and online book renewals are available!

Writing & Multiliteracy Center

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center provides undergraduate and graduate students with free tutoring support in most academic disciplines.
