CSUCI THRIVE is a flexible professional development program for faculty to engage in equity-minded learning and design experiences for a virtual environment. In this program, faculty will develop personalized learning plans with the purpose of gaining knowledge and skills in designing and facilitating online courses for Fall 2020. This program is funded by CARES2 funding, as mentioned in Dr. Beck’ s Sunday, May 17th email. We have designed this program to have flexibility and support to meet as many needs as possible.

  • Program Dates: CSUCI THRIVE will open on June 15th. All faculty that have registered will receive an email and invitation to the Orientation in Canvas.
  • Time commitment: Faculty should expect to spend about 15-20 hours engaging with online course materials independently or within a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and additional time designing their courses. The Orientation Modules, Foundation Labs, and Enrichment Micro-Courses are designed for asynchronous engagement, meaning you can login and participate when it is convenient for you.
  • Compensation: Faculty that complete the program qualify for a $1,500 stipend.
  • Where to find more information: Please review the program details for a full program description.
  • Application: Apply to participate in CSUCI THRIVE.

The program has 3 primary components. The bookends are the Orientation and Capstone. In between, there are offerings for faculty to select in order to meet their learning needs. Faculty may opt to participate in THRIVE independently or as part of a Learning Community.

At the end of the Orientation, faculty choosing to work independently through THRIVE will develop a learning plan that will lead to the completion of the Capstone project. In order to receive the additional pay, faculty will need to complete the Orientation, select Foundations Labs and Enrichment Micro-Course (~10hrs of coursework) and submit the final Capstone Project.

Faculty have the option to engage with summer offerings as part of a Professional Learning Community (PLC), facilitated by a CSUCI colleague in your broad academic interest or home: humanities; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); Education; Business; Arts; Interdisciplinary Education. PLCs will draft a common Learning Plan and help each other stay accountable to meet your goals. Each PLC member will be required to complete the Orientation, participate in PLC, and submit their Capstone Project to receive the additional pay.

CSUCI T.H.R.I.V.E. will begin on June 15th, 2020.
