In addition to the workshops, the GSC will also host coffee hour three times per week: 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, 5 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and 2 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays. 2013 Celebration of Service- Sept. 6*

The Center for Community Engagement cordially invites you to the 2013 Celebration of Service on Friday, Sept. 6 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Petit Salon. The event will honor faculty, community partners and students’ community engagement efforts. In addition to the awards breakfast and networking with community partners, the event will feature a poster session from 8 to 8:30 a.m., which will highlight several service learning projects/research. The event will bring our community together to acknowledge the growth and impact these projects/research contribute to our students and the community as well as honoring award recipients for their outstanding community engagement efforts.

Constitution Day recognition and quiz- Sept. 17

September 17, 1787 the U.S. Constitution was ratified. Constitution Day is an annual celebration of the Constitution and the society it helped form. To celebrate Constitution Day this year, CI will be holding a Constitution Day Pub Quiz. Join Drs. Sean Kelly and Mary McThomas, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 9 to 10:15 a.m. in Del Norte 1500.The competition will be fierce. Prizes will be given!

Peace Corps Information Session: Engage. Expand. Explore. – Sept. 19

Join the Center for Community Engagement for pizza in our new Ojai Hall location, room 1958, and learn more about serving in the Peace Corps. This meeting will take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Emergency Preparedness Forum- Sept. 25

The annual CI Emergency Preparedness Forum will be in the South Quad on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 11:00 a.m. Come join the forum to learn about campus and personal preparedness. Take a look inside CI’s Emergency Operations Trailer and sign up for emergency notifications with CSUCI Alert. Refreshments will be provided. Sign up to receive Emergency Preparedness Information or volunteer for the Mass Casualty Disaster Exercise in January.

Freshmen STAR Week- Sept. 30-Oct. 4

Freshmen STAR Week will take place Sept. 30- Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to meet with our Academic Advisors to plan for your success. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to sign up for your STAR appointment today!

During your STAR workshop meeting, advisors will review requirements for your major as well as general education and very specific graduation requirements. We’ll also review your CI Academic Requirements report (CARR) which electronically monitors your academic progress and assist you with the planning of spring 2014 schedule of classes that best fit your educational and personal goals.
