How to Request a Letter of Recommendation for Grad School – Nov. 6

The Graduate Studies Center will host a  workshop on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5-6 p.m. in El Dorado Hall.  How to Request a Letter of Recommendation for Graduate School will cover topics such as who to request a letter of recommendation from and when to request it. The workshop will inform students on what materials they need in order to receive a positive letter. Veterans Week Nov. 10-14

Each year during the week of Veterans Day, the Veterans Affairs Program (VAP) hosts events to express appreciation and stimulate campus awareness for our student veterans. This year from Nov. 10- 14, the VAP will host five events that include Movie with the Vets, the U.S. Marines Corps Anniversary, a Resume Writing Workshop for Veterans, the Student Veterans Panel, and a Car Show/Drive-in Block Party. Event details are below.

The Student Veterans Panel is a collaboration between the VAP and Student Government. Chris Zaki, Veterans & Commuter Students Senator will be the moderator for the panel. The purpose of the Student Veterans Panel is to bring student veterans together with the general student population to share a first-hand perspective of their experiences in the military and transitions into academic life.

Dale Carnegie Training Workshop – Nov. 12

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 6-8 p.m., CI’s Thousand Oaks campus will host a training workshop for planning presentations.  When presenting to a buying team, decisions makers, and peers, professionals need to be confident.  Attend this workshop and learn about the foundational elements of presentations, creating a template for planning effectively, and appealing to different audiences and audience members.  This event is free and will take place at CI’s Thousand Oaks campus, 501 Marin St. Suite 200 in Thousand Oaks.  Please RSVP here.

Marijuana Use in Ventura County – Nov. 13

Internet Export Marketing – Nov. 14

The campus  is invited to a free Internet export marketing workshop on Friday, Nov. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to  12 noon in Malibu Hall 100.  The phenomenon of e-commerce and globalization provides opportunities for small and medium sized businesses new outlets for products and services. The Internet offers much promise to U.S. firms interested in another vehicle for exporting.

Physical Education Health Project Open House – Nov. 19

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in El Dorado Hall, CI’s School of Education will host a presentation on the California Physical Education Health Project which is now housed on the CI campus and will provide an overview of the project and its objectives.

The California Physical EducationHealth Project is a collaborative, statewide network of physical educators, health educators, classroom teachers, and university scholars dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in teaching standards-based physical education and health education. It is dedicated to increasing teachers' academic content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge in health and physical education that is research-based and content standards driven.  You can learn more about the event here

Credential and Graduate Writing Support – Nov. 22

Writers Block? Struggling to get started? Too many distractions? The Graduate Writing Studio has created this workshop to help students establish and sustain a regular writing routine. Students will have the opportunity to work on research papers, proposals, thesis writing, or course papers. Access to a Graduate Writing Instructor for questions, support and feedback will be available. 

Free parking and coffee will be available for students who attend this workshop.
