Mastering Abstract Ideas Through Service-Learning – Feb. 23

CI faculty are invited to attend a Service-Learning workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to Noon in Sage Hall, Room 2030.

Facilitated by Richard Cone, a recognized leader in the service-learning movement, this faculty workshop is designed to explore how a reflective process can be built into the curriculum of a course and why doing so must be done with careful intentionality. The workshop, presented by the Center for Community Engagement, will be highly collaborative and practical.

African American Achievement Award Luncheon – Feb. 26

Intercultural Services is hosting their 4th annual African American Achievement Awards luncheon on Friday, Feb. 26, Noon - 2 p.m. in the Grand Salon. The award ceremony recognizes individuals who have made a substantial difference in their respective fields and have worked to better the community. This year’s honorees will be awarded under the following categories: Education, Healthcare, Civic Engagement, Social Justice, Athletics, Humanitarian, and Arts & Entertainment.

Students who attend this event will have the opportunity to network with former award recipients and present awardees.

SAFE and Brave on Campus – March 3

Safe on CampusCI faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders are encouraged to attend SAFE and Brave on Campus training on Thursday, March 3 from 2-5 p.m. in Sage Hall, Room 2030.

SAFE on Campus is a program sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Engagement and seeks to reduce homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism at CI. Through education, advocacy, and experiential learning contributes to building a campus climate that is safe, empowering and accepting of all University community members.

DREAMers Ally Workshop – March 4

On Friday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Petit Salon, the Center for Multicultural Engagement will host a workshop on how we can serve better our undocumented students. Faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders are encouraged to attend as representatives from CSU Fullerton, CSULA, and CSUN will share their expertise and discuss the issue.

Women's Recognition Luncheon – March 8

Each year, Intercultural Services hosts a Women’s Recognition Luncheon to honor individuals who foster the growth and development of our community through leadership, service and dedication. In doing so, it’s our hope to make a difference towards gender equality and encourage a climate of advocacy.

The Women’s Recognition Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 8 in Grand Salon from Noon – 2 p.m. Our keynote speaker is Jenna Tosh, CEO of Planned Parenthood to address the current social climate about reproductive rights. The overall goal of the luncheon is to inform students and empower them to vote in the upcoming election.
