Joanna Orr is Vice President, Legal Affairs at Reiter Affiliated Companies, LLC where she handles business transactions including real estate and contracts, manages corporate governance, oversees litigation and provides legal counsel.
Prior to joining RAC in 2014, Joanna spent four years as an associate at Ferguson Case Orr Paterson, LLP in Ventura, California, and focused her practice on taxation, with an emphasis on business transactions, real estate, nonprofit organizations and estate planning. From 2004 to 2009, Joanna was an associate at Iverson, Yoakum, Papiano and Hatch in Los Angeles, where she handled a wide variety of litigation and transactional matters.
Joanna graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. During college, Joanna spent a year studying African political and economic development at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Joanna earned her law degree from the King Hall School of Law at the University of California, Davis in 2003. During law school, Joanna interned at the Franchise Tax Board, where she gained valuable insight into California taxation. Joanna then obtained her Master of Laws in Taxation at Georgetown University in 2004, where she wrote her graduate thesis on state taxation of gambling and Indian gaming in California.
An AV-rated attorney and member of the State Bar of California since 2003, Joanna serves on the Business Advisory Council at California State University Channel Islands and the Through the Looking Glass Symposium Planning Committee. She has taught Business Law at California State University Channel Islands and taught Taxation at the Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law.
