Brief Activity DescriptionI will invite a guest lecturer, now undetermined, to speak in my ENGL/HIST 430 Change & Transformation: The Sixties course. I will invite person who was active in the Chicana/o Movement in and out of Ventura County. For the past three years, I have invited different people of this generation to speak to the class.
Learning Outcomes and Relation to IRA to Course OfferingsTo write explanations of the changes and conflicts in cultural and cross-cultural transformations of the sixties and seventies in America.
The guest lecturer will discuss her/his experience with groups of varying class, race, and ethnic backgrounds. This will entail planning events, the protest of policies, and cross-cultural coalitions.


• To master the major historical and literary themes of the sixties and seventies in America
From the guest lecture, students will have the opportunity to compare the first-hand accounts of the guest speaker with the secondary literature they have been assigned.
Description of Assessment ProcessAn assessment survey will be distributed to the class. In addition, students will be required to post a reflection on CI learn/Blackboard.

Target Audience/Student MarketingStudents of my ENGL/HIST 430 course is the intended audience. The syllabus and CI learn/Blackboard announcements will detail that attendance for the quest lecture will be required. Students outside the course will be invited by email to attend as the classroom can accommodate.
Bring Benefit to CampusThe class will have a debriefing on the guest lecture by way of reflective posts on CI learn/Blackboard and an in-class discussion. The perspective of the guest lecture will also be a source to be considered for the mid-term exam
