Camarillo, Calif., Aug. 28, 2014 – The Art program at CSU Channel Islands (CI) is pleased to present "Justine Avila: An Adventure in Filmmaking" at the Grad Wall Gallery in CI's Napa Hall. The alumna exhibition will run from Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Saturday, Sept. 26, with a free public opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Avila, a Ventura native, graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in Art. She runs her own business, JayAlise Media, a freelance company specializing in music videos, business promotionals, and special event recap videos. She recently released the music video "Livin Good," which she produced, directed and edited for Fresno-based Hip-Hop/R&B artist Travis Miller.

The exhibition will feature a variety of Avila's student and professional work, including music videos, short documentaries, films and promotionals, projected on TV monitors and a large screen.

"Through my work, I try to highlight the joy people find in life – even in simple little things," Avila said. "I love capturing life's 'perfect moments' and finding the right music and effects to unlock people's emotions and help them connect personally with my videos."

The Grad Wall is located in Napa Hall, Room 1154, on Ventura Street on the CI campus. The Grad Wall is an exhibition space showcasing the works of top graduating students from CI's Art Program. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, contact the CI Art program at 805-437-2772, or email art@csuci.edu.
