Collegiate Advertising Awards

Camarillo, Calif., June 20, 2016 – CSU Channel Islands (CI) was named among the top in the nation in the 2015 Collegiate Advertising Awards program. The Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) is an elite national program recognizing colleges and universities for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising, and promotions of their schools.

The 2015 CAA program had more than 900 entries from across the United States representing a diverse plethora of educational facilities from small community colleges to very large colleges and universities.

All submissions were reviewed and scored by a national panel of industry experts, with a possibility of 100 total points. Participant’s entries competed against similar-sized organizations in their specific groups and categories. Awards were issued for entries that received top marks from judges for educational advertising excellence. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal. Only the top 16 percent of entries earned awards, ranging from the highest: Judge’s Choice, to the lowest: Bronze.

CI earned three silver awards from Collegiate Advertising Awards placing them in the top 12 percent in the nation for the following categories: Special Video Production for the 2015 Holiday Video Greeting; Annual Report for the 2013-2014 Foundation Annual Report; and Student Viewbook/Printed for the 2014-2015 Recruitment Viewbook.

Additionally, Higher Ed Marketing/Educational Advertising Awards provided a silver award in the category of Publication/External for Universities/Colleges of similar size for the spring 2015 Channel magazine. Merit awards were also provided for the 2015 Holiday Video Greeting; Recruitment Viewbook/Printed for the 2014-2015 Recruitment Viewbook; and the 2013-2014 Foundation Annual Report.

“We’re extremely pleased with the recognition we’ve received for these projects,” said Nancy Covarrubias Gill, CI’s Director of Communication & Marketing. “Members of our Communication & Marketing (C&M) team work very closely with our campus clients in University Advancement and Enrollment Services to provide the highest quality, most creative material for various marketing purposes, as well as producing our own C&M projects such as videos and the University’s bi-annual magazine, Channel.”
