Lauren Shepard (Student), Ron Berkowsky (faculty), Thomas A. Clobes (faculty)Oct. 9, 2023 – Two CSUCI faculty members and one student have been selected to participate in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) “All of Us” Research Scholar Program (RSP). The program recently announced its 2023-2024 cohort of student scholars and mentors, with our Health Science program showing up strong: Lauren Shepard was selected as a scholar, and faculty members Ron Berkowsky and Tom Clobes were selected as program mentors (each assigned two student mentees).

This program, as described on the NIH website, “… is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history.” To do this, they will collect data from participants and evaluate how biology, lifestyle, and environment can impact one’s health.

The program is open to all students (high school, undergraduate and graduate levels) and provides them an opportunity to work closely with experts in health research to complete a research project using “All of Us” data. The RSP provides hand-on research experience and professional develop activities for selected student scholars.

The program runs for 8 months culminating in the “All of Us” Researcher Convention in early April.
