Aug. 4, 2023 — The focus of the 20th Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October is on four key behaviors:

1. Turn on multifactor authentication: Using multifactor authentication can increase your ability to prevent a scammer from getting access to your account. It is available from Apple, Google, Microsoft, Instagram, LinkedIn and other companies listed here.

2. Use strong passwords and a password manager: It’s difficult to remember all the different passwords, particularly when they are complex. Having a good password manager can help keep your passwords organized.

3. Update software regularly: The software on your phone, computer and even car needs regular updates. You not only get new features, but also a lot of security in the updates.

4. Recognize and report phishing: Take a moment and read the email. What email address sent it? Never click on a link in the email; always go to the site by typing the address manually.
