CI Performing Arts presents El FandangoSept. 29, 2023 - CSUCI’s Performing Arts department will present “El Fandango de la Muerte/Death’s Fandango,” an original play written and directed by guest artist Javier Gomez, Artistic Director and Founder of Oxnard's award-winning Inlakech Cultural Arts Center, on Oct. 13, 14, and 15 on campus.

Two additional shows will be presented on Nov. 1 and 2 in Oxnard as part of Dia de los Muertos celebrations.

The show explores pre-colonization Dia del los Muertos / Day of the Dead stories and traditions in the style of Teatro Campesino, which gave birth to Chicano Theatre, and includes performances by students in PA/ART 191 Production and PA/ART 391 Advanced Production, as well as Inlakech students and associate artists.

Tickets are free to CSUCI students; $5 for all other students; $10 for faculty and staff; and $15 for the general public. Student IDs will be checked at the door.
