Dec. 1, 2023 - Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce that the Regents of the University of California, Santa Barbara have awarded $45,041 to Professor Alona Kryshchenko and Professor Isaac Quintanilla-Salinas for their California Learning Lab project entitled “Southern California Consortium for Data Science.”

This Pathways Development Grant project will establish a Southern California Consortium for Data Science (SCCDS), aiming to develop and expand articulated pathways in data science that respond to opportunities in industry. This California Learning Lab grant will allow CSUCI to develop data science pathways and assist with creating a Data Science major for students.

Data Science is one of the high demand areas in industry making this major very attractive for
students. Building pathways for students to smoothly transfer from City College to CSUs and UCs is critical for them to graduate in a timely manner.
