June 21, 2023 — Planning summer travel might be a lengthy journey of its own, but you can avoid complications by practicing the following cyber safety tips:
Check airline deals: Rushing to find the cheapest tickets available online can be risky. Purchasing usually requires providing personal and financial information, so be wary and check the webpage for reputability. It may be set up to steal your data.
Verify hotel bookings: Make sure you have the right website when booking a hotel room. You can also call to verify the room was booked.
Know what you are getting into with ride-hailing services: Read how the apps keep and use your data. Know your route, wait somewhere public and verify your driver.
Be careful with public Wi-Fi: These internet access points may have holes that let threats slip in. Ensure you have your data and accounts protected if you take the risk, or use your phone’s mobile hot spot.
