CI Surf Team Making Waves
On March 4 and 5 The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) held its annual State Championships where CI competed against several other colleges in their division, including SDSU, UCSD, USC, UCSB, and many more. Two CI surfers took top honors in the main divisions. Austin Finley, CI’s surf team captain took first in the main division, Men’s Shortboard. Chase Stavron placed 4th in the Men’s Longboard division. Jade Bear and Kevin Piper also had strong showings in the Women’s Shortboard division and Men’s Shortboard division, respectively.
Women's Recognition Luncheon
The annual Women's Recognition Luncheon was held on March 8 and honored individuals who foster growth and development of the community through leadership, service and dedication.
Idea to Impact
On March 16, young students from the local community were honored for their contributions during the "Idea to Impact" student challenge. This year students learned more about water and were challenged to share ideas on how to ease California's drought. CI took over "Idea to Impact" in the 2012-2013 year under the direction of Professor of Chemistry Phil Hampton, Ph.D., Director of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) initiatives.
St. Patrick's Day Parade
On Saturday, March 12, members of the campus community gathered in Ventura to participate in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and CI's own President Rush served as a parade judge.
