Center Resources and Supports
The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) serves as a resource and support center for faculty, community partners and students engaged in service learning. Listed below are resources and supports available through our office.
Community Partner Database
The CCE maintains a database of community based agencies and organizations, within Ventura County. The CCE will:-
Negotiate a service learning contract with community partners that will address issues related to service learning policies and Risk Management / Insurance

Conduct a community partner placement site assessment to discuss the nature and logistics of student placement and tour the site to ensure that the environment is safe for our students.

Prepare community partner profiles in advance to assist with informing students of screening requirements such as, LIVESCAN and/or TB test.

The CCE can also assist by acting as a liaison for faculty and community partners to connect, and maintain ongoing communication throughout the semester.
Student Orientations
The CCE can provide staff to conduct orientations during class or at other pre-arranged times to introduce students to service learning concepts, methods and purpose. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment.
Resource Development
When available the CCE can provide funding for faculty, community partners and students to:
- develop service learning curriculum
- attend service learning /civic engagement related conferences
- engage in service learning research
Resource Library
The CCE maintains a collection of books, compact discs, and videos pertaining to service learning and related topics. Items may be borrowed via campus mail or pick-up. Please call or email our office for availability.
