Mission

CSUCI Advisory Committee on Sustainability

The committee will develop, propose and recommend campus policies and procedures on sustainability. The committee will identify and prioritize practices and programs to further the University’s sustainability efforts. The committee will lead and integrate the best methods of environmental stewardship into campus operations. It will also advance the institution’s
engagement in sustainability at a local, state, and global level.

The committee will be charged with developing recommendations for campus sustainability
with the goal of sustainable leadership in:

• research and education
• campus operations
• stewardship in the community

Committee Goals

• Educating faculty, staff ,and students about the impact of their actions on the environment
• Identifying, establishing and publicizing sustainability principles, goals and best practices
• Providing a framework for guiding sustainable procedures, programs and initiatives
• Monitoring and reporting progress on campus sustainability initiatives

The committee will be composed of representatives from all campus divisions and the student body. An Executive Committee will coordinate the activities of the larger committee.

Systemwide Requirements
Executive Order No. 987 outlines energy and sustainability requirements for the CSU. The Executive Order provides a Policy Statement on Energy Conservation, Sustainable Building Practices, and Physical Plant Management for the California State University.  It was originally adopted in 1978, and most recently updated in 2006.
