About

Established in 2002 and part of the Cal State family, you’ll find us halfway between Santa Barbara and LA. (Nope, we’re not on an island ourselves. But we do run a field research station over in the Channel Islands National Park on the Santa Rosa Island.)

A place to make a difference

From coastal communities near the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains to cities surrounded by rich agriculture, our region is an extension of our campus.  Learning and service extend beyond our campus, benefiting both our students and the communities we call home.

  • Faculty partner with local organizations to integrate service-learning into coursework.
  • Local businesses provide internships, advise academic programs, and share their expertise in the classroom.
  • Students volunteer throughout Ventura County, individually and through student organizations.
  • From coastlines to woodlands, nearby natural landscapes offer opportunities for research, discovery, and recreation.

We also offer professional development for community members through continuing education courses, customized workplace training, and the OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute, which enriches the lives of adults 50 years old and over through an eclectic array of classes.

Inspired by the communities we serve. Connect your passion to purpose. From thought to action.
