The Graduate Studies Center hold workshops designed to prepare undergraduate students and CSUCI alumni for the graduate school application process. Our one-hour workshops vary in topic to help students who are considering or in the process of applying to graduate or professional school. The workshops are held each Spring and Fall semester. Please take a look at the topics for our upcoming series of workshops.

Spring 2023 Workshops

Specified workshop topics are repeated throughout the semester. All workshops will be held virtually via Zoom. Once registered, students will receive the zoom link prior to each workshop for which they are registered.

How to Prepare for Graduate School

This workshop is designed to give students information on the graduate school application process, how to prepare, and benefits of attending graduate school.

How to Request Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation are required for applying to graduate school. Learn who to ask, when to ask, and how to ask for these letters to ensure a positive and meaningful recommendation.

Graduate School Preparation: International Graduate Programs

Want to gain a global perspective while completing your graduate program? This workshop will provide you with the tools to explore graduate programs overseas. 

Sally Casanova Scholars and CSU Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program Information Session

This session will provide you with information on pre-doctoral programs which can help fund your doctoral studies through the CSU Chancellors Office.

How to Prepare for Graduate School During a Gap Year

This workshop is designed to assist you in learning more about the gap year and how to intentionally use your gap year to prepare for graduate school. 

Graduate School Preparation: Writing Your Personal Statement

Need assistance crafting your personal statement for graduate school? In this workshop, you will learn how to craft an effective personal statement. Please come prepared with an idea of where you might be applying and a printout or screenshot of the program's personal statement description.

Undocu Graduate School 101

In partnership with the Multicultural Dream Center (MDC), this workshop is designed to support undocumented students in the process of applying to graduate school. 

Graduate School Preparation: Creating your Resume/C.V.

Preparing for Graduate School? Need help putting your resume or C.V. together? In this workshop, you will learn how to use action statements, buzzwords, and utilize the newest trends while crafting your resume for graduate school.
