MSFT funds are used to enhance the overall student experience at CSU Channel Islands by supporting improvements to campus facilities, technology, and student services. This includes expanding and upgrading learning spaces, providing resources that support academic success and accessibility, and investing in equipment and services that strengthen instructional programs and student engagement.

MSFT Revenue is a Category II student fee. MSFT Revenue is collected per student and per semester.

MSFT applications are accepted during the annual award cycle through InfoReady. All required information, approvals, and uploads are completed within a single online application.
The MSFT open call is conducted one year in advance of the funded fiscal year (July–June) to support campus planning, proposal review, and timely implementation of funded activities.
Applications open in October for the following academic year.

Proposals are reviewed by the MSFT Committee using a standardized scoring rubric.
Committee recommendations are forwarded to the Provost for final approval.

To be fair to applicants who have completed and submitted forms on time, late entries will not be accepted, but applicants are encouraged to re-apply in the next cycle
