Mariposa Be Free

The Mariposa Evolucionado project aims to educate, create awareness, and empower those who are affected by intimate partner violence (IPV). We are comprised of students, alumni, faculty, and community partners that have come together to collaborate on research, creative activities, and intervention/prevention strategies to help people cope with IPV.

IPV is a serious issue that affects people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, cultures, and sexual orientation, regardless of education and socioeconomic status. Intimate partner violence, child abuse, sexual assault, date rape, and stalking victimization are very prevalent in our community. However, it is an issue that is rarely discussed because of the stigma and negative consequences experienced by partners, families, schools, and the community.

In an effort to help put an end to the violence, at Mariposa Be Free we aim to:

Educate

Spread the Word! Define and provide an understanding of what IPV is. Learn about how it affects people of diverse backgrounds, and factors that contribute to violence and abuse.

Create Awareness

Join Forces! Communicate, collaborate, and participate in events throughout the community, such as Clothesline Project, Sexual Awareness Week, and volunteer organizations.

Provide Resources

Help Yourself. Help Others. Provide information and access to resources for those who are and have been affected by intimate partner violence. Find contact information for local clinics, shelters, books, videos, and alternative resources for those seeking help.
