General Program Information
All prospective students are encouraged to attend a Credential Information Session to learn about teacher credentialing, program format, the application process, and admission requirements.
Credential Prerequisite Requirements
Each credential program has 5 different prerequisite courses that must be successfully completed before you can be considered for full admission to the School of Education. *Bilingual authorization candidates are required to complete 3 additional prerequisites (8 total).
How can the credential prerequisites be completed?
Prerequisite (Phase I) applications are accepted in fall and spring.
Credential Prerequisite Courses
- All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to beginning the Phase II of the credential program with a grade of “C” or better.
- All prerequisite courses must be taken within 7 years of credential program application. Please note, however, that taking and successfully completing these prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission into Phase II of the credential program.
*Bilingual Added Authorization candidates must successfully complete 9 additional units of prerequisite coursework to move forward with the bilingual methods courses and bilingual student teaching.
