Application Deadlines

Please allow sufficient time to apply for and be granted a student visa from the U.S. Embassy in your home country. For locations and more information on applying for the F-1 visa, please visit the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs website where you will find a list of Embassy and Consulate locations.

Application deadlines for all programs in Fall 2021

  • Application Begins: October 1, 2020
  • Application Deadline: June 1, 2021 for MS Mathematics, MS Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Dual MBA/MS Biotechnology Programs.  (Application Deadline for MS Computer Science was March 30, 2021, for applicants already living in the U.S., please inquire about a late application to MSCS)
  • Document Deadline: June 10, 2021
  • Classes Begin: August 23, 2021

Application deadlines for all programs in Spring 2022

  • Application Begins: August 1, 2021
  • Application Deadline: November 1, 2021
  • Document Deadline: November 8, 2021
  • Classes Begin: January 24, 2022

International Graduate Admission Requirements

International (F-1) students may be accepted if they fulfill the following requirements:

  • Have earned a degree or diploma that CI considers to be the equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Have attained a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 in all units attempted as an undergraduate or have attained a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted. Certain programs have stricter requirements regarding academic preparation. (Please refer to the specific graduate program that you are applying to for GPA requirements.)
  • An official TOEFL score report with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, or 80 on the Internet-based-test) or an overall IELTS band score of 6.5.

Application Documents

  • Please submit an application and $70.00 application fee at the Cal Sate Apply website.
  • The Graduate Application Checklist (PDF, 139KB) for MS Computer Science, MS Biotechnology, MS Mathematics, and the Dual MS Biotechnology & MBA Programs.
  • Please note that the MBA Program and MA in Education Programs are currently closed for international applicants.
  • The checklists detail admission requirements and all other documents required to apply to any of our programs.

Documents Required for I-20 Immigration Form

  • Affidavit of Financial Support (PDF, 163KB):
    • To apply to CSU Channel Islands, you must submit an Affidavit of Financial Support and bank statement. *International students may be required to submit additional tuition fees.
    • Another acceptable method would be to provide an original letter on the financial institution’s letterhead, signed and dated by the institution’s appropriate officer.
    • If the student has a sponsor (a person willing to financially support the student while he or she is studying at CI), the sponsor must submit her/his original financial statement along with a complete Affidavit of Financial Support.
    • These documents can be scanned and e-mailed to the International Programs office at international@csuci.edu.
