Application Deadlines

Please allow sufficient time to apply for and be granted a student visa from the U.S. Embassy in your home country. For locations and more information on applying for the F-1 visa, please visit the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs website where you will find a list of Embassy and Consulate locations.

Application deadlines for Fall 2018

International Graduate Admission Requirements

International (F-1) students may be accepted if they fulfill the following requirements:

  • Have earned a degree or diploma that CI considers to be the equivalent to a 4-year U.S. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Have attained a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 in all units attempted as an undergraduate or have attained a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted. Certain programs have stricter requirements regarding academic preparation. (Please refer to the specific graduate program that you are applying to for GPA requirements.)
  • An official TOEFL score report with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, or 80 on the Internet-based-test) or an overall IELTS band score of 6.5. 
  • All Graduate programs require the GRE or GMAT. (Please see program websites below for details.)

Application Documents

  • Please submit an application and $55.00 application fee at the Cal Sate Apply website.
  • The Graduate Application Checklist (PDF, 223KB) - This checklist will detail all other documents required to apply to any of our programs, as well as the address to which all items must be sent. 
  • Official academic records from all universities attended. Certified English translations must accompany all non-English documents.
  • Two letters of recommendation (professional or educational). Dual Degree program applicants should submit one letter reflecting business acumen and one reflecting technical abilities. 
  • Affidavit of Financial Support (PDF, 238KB):
    • To apply to CSU Channel Islands, you must submit an Affidavit of Financial Support and bank statement.
    • Another acceptable method would be to provide an original letter on the financial institution’s letterhead, signed and dated by the institution’s appropriate officer.
    • If the student has a sponsor (a person willing to financially support the student while he or she is studying at CI), the sponsor must submit her/his original financial statement along with a complete Affidavit of Financial Support.

Graduate Programs

Master of Business Administration (MBA)- offered in Santa Barbara. This program is only open to students who are business majors. We cannot accept students with Bachelor’s Degrees in any other field.

  • If you are interested in the MBA Program, please contact the International Programs office at before you begin the application process for more information on eligibility and the program schedule.
  • Please note that the courses are not offered at the main campus.  It is necessary to arrange for a transportation to attend these classes.
