Chaperone Expectations

  • Chaperones should be actively involved in the visit—participating in the group tour, and monitoring student behavior during presentations. Most importantly staying with the group.
  • Please refrain from taking phone calls during a tour.
  • Chaperones should assist in keeping the group visit on schedule.
  • Chaperones are responsible for making sure that their students are aware of and understand expectations for behavior as listed in student expectations.
  • If a chaperone has questions or concerns about Student Ambassadors or the program, please address it directly with the Coordinator of University Outreach

Student Expectations

  • The purpose of the campus visit to CSU Channel Islands is for each student to seriously explore his/her options in higher education.
  • CSU Channel Islands expects our visiting students to be respectful of each other, our staff, all presenters, and all facilities and property of CSUCI at all times.

Dining on Campus with Groups

If you are looking to dine on campus while you are here, it is highly recommended to bring a picnic-style lunch. However, if you plan on purchasing lunch on campus, arrangements should be made at least one week prior to visit. Our dining facilities capacities are limited, and there is no quick lunch option for large groups .

  • University Outreach does not offer refrigeration or storage of packed lunches.
  • Guest may eat their lunches in our outdoor courtyards, or our large outdoor areas such as Central Mall or South Quad.

Bus Parking

All guests who are traveling by school bus must drop off and park along the yellow sidewalk on San Luis Avenue, adjacent to Sage Hall. Bus driver please pull all the way forward to accommodate additional buses.

Guest Parking

Field trip chaperones traveling in personal vehicles or vans must pay for parking ($6.00). Daily parking permits are obtained at any parking permit dispenser located in parking lots A1, A2, A3, A4, Transportation & Parking Services in Placer Hall, or online at http://mycampuspermit.com/csuci.html (printer required)

Parking on campus is limited and guests are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early in order to find parking for their standard vehicle.

Late Groups

Unfortunately, our tours are based on student tour guides who often schedule their availability between their own schedules. If you will be more than 30 minutes late, please call use at 805-437-8520 so we can provide you with a self-guided tour packet and help you plan your visit without a student-led tour.
