March 28, 2023 — CSUCI will welcome goats and sheep back to campus in April to perform targeted grazing for fire safety.

People can learn more about the animals and their service at an event on Wednesday, April 5, starting at noon in El Dorado Hall Michael Leicht, owner of Ventura Brush Goats, and Matthew Shapero, the University of California livestock and range adviser serving Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, will explain the many benefits of targeted grazing and how CSUCI is using goats and sheep to manage vegetation on campus. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Following the presentation, participants will head out to the grazing area for a live goat and sheepherding demonstration from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The family-friendly event is open to all, including community members.
