Purpose
The purpose of this parking and traffic policy is to establish regulations and guidelines to administer the vehicular traffic and parking on campus. Specifically, the policy will: 1) expedite university business and provide maximum safety and convenience; 2) regulate parking, with priority given to services of the university; and 3) provide and maintain suitable campus parking and traffic facilities.
Background
This policy is in accordance with Section 21113 of the California Vehicle Code, Sections 42200 (Driving and Parking Vehicles on Campus Property) and 42201(Campus Parking Fees) of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.

Applicability
This policy applies to all California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) faculty, University staff, students, tenants, volunteers and visitors.
Definition(s)
Students - A student currently enrolled at CSUCI during the spring or fall semester,
summer period, or one who has completed the immediately preceding term and is eligible
for re-enrollment. This also includes non-matriculated (i.e. Open University, Extended
Education, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and prospective/intent to enroll) students
and excludes full-time and permanent part-time employees.
University Staff - All represented and non-represented employees of the University
except those in Unit 3 and Unit 11. (Note: Unit 11 student part time workers, graduate
assistants and teaching associates are excluded from this definition because they
are primarily on campus for purposes related to obtaining their educational goal and
therefore are not considered employees for the purpose of the policy.)
Faculty - Members of Collective Bargaining Unit 3, as well as volunteer professors.
Tenants - Tenants are defined as any organization or person(s), or employees of an
organization or person(s), who possess an executed lease with CSUCI.
Text
The operation and parking of vehicles on the campus is regulated and enforced pursuant
to the California
Vehicle Code. All California Vehicle Code laws pertaining to vehicular operation and
parking are in effect
and enforced on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Parking citations, appeals,
and administrative
hearing procedures shall be in accordance with the California Vehicle Code section
40215.
