After-Hours Uber Voucher Program - Safe Transportation When the Bus Is Unavailable
The After-Hours Transit Voucher Program provides CSU Channel Islands students/faculty/staff with a limited, safety-focused transportation option during late-night hours when campus bus service is not operating.
This program is designed to support transit-dependent students/faculty/staff and help ensure safe travel to and from designated bus stops.

✅ Eligibility & Program Rules
Who Is Eligible?
To participate in the After-Hours Uber Voucher Program, students/faculty/staff must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be currently enrolled/employed at CSU Channel Islands and in good standing
- Demonstrate regular use of the VCTC bus during daytime hours
- Be physically present at an approved bus stop during authorized after-hours (5:00 – 10:00pm Monday through Friday)
- Use the program only for approved destinations
- Must fill out voucher request and be approved (apply here: After Hours Transit Voucher Application)
- Must have or sign up for an Uber account – does require a credit/debit card or prepaid Visa/Mastercard (sign up here: Uber Account Sign Up)
Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee access. Program participation is subject to funding availability and compliance with all rules.
Approved Locations
Voucher use is limited to rides that originate from one or end at of the following approved locations:
- CSU Channel Islands
- Camarillo Metrolink Station
- Oxnard C Street Transit Center
- Oxnard College Transit Center
Rides must begin at one of these locations during approved after-hours time windows (M-F from 5PM-10PM).
Trips to non-approved destinations are not permitted.

- The student/faculty/staff open an Uber account – does require a credit/debit card or prepaid Visa/Mastercard (sign up here: Uber Account Sign Up)
- The student/faculty/staff applies for the Uber voucher (apply here: After Hours Transit Voucher Application)
- The student/faculty/staff uses the VCTC bus during the day if applicable
- The student/faculty/staff is at an approved bus stop for pickup:
- CSU Channel Islands
- Camarillo Metrolink Station
- Oxnard C Street Transit Center
- Oxnard College Transit Center
- The student/faculty/staff uses an after-hours voucher during the approved time window (5:00 – 10:00pm Monday through Friday)
- The ride ends at an approved bus stop destination:
- CSU Channel Islands
- Camarillo Metrolink Station
- Oxnard C Street Transit Center
- Oxnard College Transit Center
All rides are subject to system controls, including time restrictions and geofencing, to ensure appropriate use.

🚫 Prohibited Use (Misuse)
What Is Not Allowed
The following actions are considered misuse of the program and may result in loss of access:
- Using vouchers while VCTC bus is still operating
- Starting a ride from a non-approved location
- Traveling to a non-approved location
- Attempting to bypass time limits, geofencing, or other system controls
- Using the program in ways inconsistent with its safety-focused purpose
Misuse impacts program availability for other students and may result in enforcement action.

Program Monitoring
Program usage is monitored to ensure compliance with eligibility rules and to identify patterns inconsistent with program intent.
Monitoring may include:
- Time-of-use review
- Origin and destination verification
Individual privacy is respected while maintaining program accountability.
Enforcement Actions
If misuse is identified, the following actions may be taken:
- Informational notice or warning
- Temporary suspension of program access
- Revocation of access for the remainder of the academic term

Do I need to have an Uber account to use this?

Can I use this program anytime I want?
No. Vouchers are available only during approved after-hours periods (5:00 – 10:00pm
Monday through Friday) when bus service is not operating.

Please allow at least 5 days for processing once you have applied and are approved

The link to your voucher will be emailed to your CSU Channel Islands email address.
Is the tip included with my voucher?
No, but tipping is always optional on the Uber platform. If you cannot or choose not
to tip, it will not affect your ability to complete the ride or use the voucher.
Does using the program guarantee future access?
No. Continued access depends on compliance with program rules and funding availability.
