Outdoor Adventure (OA) day hikes are the perfect way to get off campus and meet new friends. All of the hikes are only hours in length instead of day in length for our overnight trips. Our student leaders will guide you through the hike and allow you the opportunity to connect with many of our surrounding trails.

Below is a skill level to help you judge how physically demanding each trip will be.

  • Level 1 (Scrub Jay) – Adventure travel at its most relaxed pace for people seeking a remarkable experience with low intensity.
  • Level 2 (Island Fox) – Great for outdoor novices and those new to active travel who are seeking more outdoor knowledge of the outdoor world.
  • Level 3 (Golden Eagle) – Recommended for outdoor enthusiasts with basic skills who want an exciting trip with a little more physical activity.

Take University Dr to Lewis Rd. Turn Right. (.9 miles)
Turn left at Las Posas Rd. and take CA-1 (PCH) to Sycamore Canyon Rd. (10.5 miles)
Turn left onto Sycamore Canyon Rd. 
Remember to pay at ranger station OR pay station in the parking lot to avoid ticketing

Distance: 11.5 miles from campus (16 minute drive)

Parking Fees:

  • All Day - $12.00 per car, per day
  • 3 hrs - $9.00 per car
  • 2 hrs - $6.00 per car
  • 1 hr - $3.00 per car 

Description of Event:  This is an event open to all students. Outdoor Adventures will be hosting an End of the year celebration night to thank everyone who participated/ wanted to participate this year and promote OA for the upcoming year 2024/2025. We will provide s'mores and non-alcoholic beverages for students to enjoy.

Wildwood Park Lizard Rock Trail

This 4.1-mile loop trail takes us along the beautiful Wildwood Mesa. It is a popular trail for hiking and mountain biking. All participants will meet our Outdoor Adventure staff at the trailhead. Closed toe shoes, water, and dressing in layers is recommended.

Hill Canyon Trailhead

This 3.7-mile out and back trail takes us along Hawk Creek and through the peaceful Hill Canyon. It is a popular trail for hiking and mountain biking. All participants will meet our Outdoor Adventure staff at the trailhead. Please let us know you are coming so you can receive an email with the pictures of the OA staff you will be meeting. Closed toe shoes, water, and dressing in layers is recommended.

Come celebrate Earth Day 2024 with OA!  We will be showcasing the different ways OA limits its environmental impact through its programming practices and also give you some ideas that you can use on your next camping trip.  We will also be leading a short hike around University Park.  All participants will meet our Outdoor Adventure staff at the University Park. Please let us know you are coming so you can receive an email with the pictures of the OA staff you will be meeting. Closed toe shoes, water, and dressing in layers is recommended.
