Rebecca Slocum

Rebecca Slocum

Rebecca is a native Floridian but has been calling California home since February 2018. She earned her BS in Psychology in 2012 from Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Florida, and has made a career in higher education since 2011, first serving as an academic tutor. Her former institutions include FSU, the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, both located in Gainesville, Florida, before finally joining CSU Channel Islands in 2019 as a program support coordinator in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Currently, Rebecca is the Academic Scheduling Analyst in the Registrar's Office and oversees semester class schedule data entry and publication university wide. She earned her MA in Education with an emphasis in Disability Studies in 2022 from CI's School of Education and strives to incorporate advocacy and accessibility in everything she does at CI. Prior to appointment as Chair, Rebecca served as Staff Council's Custodian of Records from July to December 2023.

Vice Chair

Sean Kramer

Sean Kramer

Sean joined CSU Channel Islands as a staff member in Fall 2018. He started as a temporary employee and was hired by Student Systems in Enrollment Management as the Advisement Systems Analyst in September 2020, before promoting to Senior Student Systems Analyst in December 2023. Prior to working joining the Student Systems team, Sean was a student assistant in Admissions & Recruitment, working as a Lead Student Ambassador.

Sean received his bachelor's degree in Business from Channel Islands in 2017 and is currently working towards a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at California Lutheran University. His service on Staff Council began in 2022, where he served as a Division representative for Academic Affairs, before being elected Vice Chair in 2023.

Secretary

Rachel Danielson

Rachel Danielson

After earning her BA in History from UC San Diego in 2005, Rachel began her professional career at UC Santa Barbara. Rachel was hired at CSU Channel Islands in 2007 and has spent the years since working in various roles within the Registrar’s Office, currently serving as the Assistant Registrar for Academic Evaluations.

As a member of the MA in Education – Higher Education inaugural cohort, Rachel was among the first Channel Islands students to be awarded this degree in the spring of 2016. During her time in the program, Rachel had the opportunity to appear in two AACRAO publications: AACRAO’s College & University journal for “A Call for Courageous Leadership” and AACRAO Guide to Commencement for “Serving Veterans through the Graduation and Commencement Process."

Rachel began her journey with Staff Council as a volunteer member of Ways & Means subcommittee, moving on to volunteer Chair of Ways & Means, then becoming an official Staff Council representative for Office of the President in addition to subcommittee Chair. The opportunity to serve as the CI Staff Council secretary is an exciting next step which will utilize the many years of experience Rachel brings to the table.

Treasurer

Colleen Haws

Colleen Haws

Colleen joined CSU Channel Islands in October 2002 as an Administrative Coordinator for the Police Department. Since then she has served in various roles for the Public Safety Department. For the past 15 years she has served as the Business Services Analyst, managing budget and administration for the Police, Transportation & Parking, and Environmental Health & Safety departments.

Colleen began serving on Staff Council in 2018 as a representative for Division of Business & Financial Affairs. She served as Chair for the Ways & Means subcommittee from July 2022 until she was elected Treasurer in 2023.

Amanda Sanchez

Amanda Sanchez

Born and raised in Ohio, Amanda joined CSU Channel Islands in the spring of 2014. She earned her BA in International Studies from The Ohio State University (OSU). Amanda was initially hired as a temporary hire in the Mathematics Department. Since her arrival she has worked for the School of Arts and Sciences (A&S) and has enjoyed varies roles over the years.

Amanda is currently an Academic Program Analyst for A&S. She earned her MA in Higher Educational Leadership from Channel Islands in 2020. She began volunteering on campus as a member of the Chicana/o Latina/o Faculty and Staff Association (ChiLFASA) shortly after arriving and has not stopped her involvement since. Amanda has served as ChiLFASA’s secretary, a member of ChiLFAS’s marketing and communication committee and has served on hiring committees for A&S and the University. Her service on Staff Council began in 2023 when she was asked to serve as a volunteer Chair for the Ways & Means subcommittee before being appointed Custodian of Records in January 2024.

When she is not working, she enjoys time with her husband, kids, and family, while trying to make time for baking, and playing sports (golf and tennis).
