Overview

Teaching and Learning Innovations is offering our third summer residency with the team to develop AI literacies and to explore artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT (composing content), PlayLab (personalized learning), Dall-e/Midjourney (visual media) and others. This residency is capped at 15 people, comprised of faculty and staff, with preference for those who can commit to attending most meetings. The interest form is open until May 24, 2025.

Goals

Residencies are intended for individuals who are interested in exploring the possibilities of AI tools for higher education and are not focused on ways to detect cheating or AI-supported work but may include conversations about the need for guardrails. The goals are simple:

  • Support time and make space to experiment with AI tools
  • Advance conversations around teaching, learning, scholarship, and administrative work in the age of AI by networking with others

Format and Commitment

  • Six-week commitment with TLi (anticipated total of about 20 hours)
  • 1 hour Zoom meetings over the 6 weeks. Meetings include a rotation for a demo (someone comes prepared to share something), ah-ha sharing, group testing
  • Expectation of at least 1 hour of exploration/play between meetings
  • Possible progress report at Fall 2025 AI-related events or meetings
  • Invited TLi blog post during AY 2025-2026 (approx. 900 words; co-authorship welcome)

Incentive

While this residency is not accompanied by additional pay, we are able to offer some professional development funds (e.g., conference registration, temporary tool subscription during residency, books/materials, etc.). Limits apply.
