2023-2024 Focus Areas

Given the myriad changes we’ve experienced over the past years, the focus areas for this year are intentionally broad:

  • Creative exploration of a challenging ‘problem’ (or inquiry) related to teaching and learning.
  • Boundary-testing an idea that needs a space and a skilled team of expertise in learning design, academic technology, academic media, and/or accessibility & inclusive design.
  • Building an innovative model that can be scaled for campus or replicated across campus units or programs.

Past Focus Areas

Of course, you are welcome to draw inspiration from past focus areas as part of your application. These topics have included:

  • Fostering critical digital citizenship
  • Equity-minded, intentionally inclusive approaches to learning across modalities
  • Exploration of new learning designs and technologies
  • Exploring virtual and augmented reality in higher education
  • Mobile-friendly, mobile-ready, and mobile-first learning experiences

Fellows will join the Teaching and Learning Innovations team for a 1-year period. During this time, they will immerse themselves in their proposed project and examine the impact that the project has on student outcomes.
