CSUCI's Custodians work in two shifts: a day shift and a night shift. This provides the best service we can deliver without interfering with the daily activities of the campus. Below is a list of our custodians' tasks and how often those tasks are done. 

Classrooms

Daily
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Tile is dust-mopped or carpets are vacuumed.
  • Table tops are wiped down and debris is removed from chairs.
  • Instructor's table and areas are cleaned.
  • Chairs are put back into position.
  • White boards cleaned.
Weekly
  • Door frame and light switches are cleaned.
Monthly
  • All areas of the room are dusted: HVAC vents, window sills, baseboards and fixtures. 
Bi-Annually
  • Carpets and floors detailed.

Conference Rooms

Daily
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Tile is dust-mopped or carpets are vacuumed; small stains are spot cleaned.
  • Table tops are wiped down and debris is removed from chairs
Weekly
  • Door frames and light switches are cleaned.
Monthly
  • All areas of the room are dusted: HVAC vents, window sills, baseboards and fixtures.
Bi-Annually
  • Room is fully detailed. 

Hall and Lobbies

Daily
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Tile is dust-mopped or carpets are vacuumed; small stains are spot-cleaned.
  • Main lobby entry door windows are spot cleaned; drinking fountains are cleaned with disinfectant.
  • Furniture is placed into original position.
Weekly
  • Door frames and light switches are cleaned.
  • White boards are wiped.
Monthly
  • All areas of the room are dusted: HVAC vents, window sills, baseboards and fixtures. 
yearly
  • Floors are stripped and waxed once a year. (Main lobbies only)

Labs

Daily
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Floors are dust-mopped and stains are spot cleaned with a wet mop.
  • Furniture is returned to original position.

Offices

Weekly
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Floors are dust-mopped and stains are spot cleaned with a wet mop or vacuumed.
  • Furniture s returned to original position. 

Restrooms

Daily
  • Trash and recycle bins are emptied.
  • Soap dispensers are checked and filled as needed.
  • Large debris is removed; tile is dust-mopped, sprayed with disinfectant, then mopped thoroughly.
  • All surfaces sprayed with disinfectant and scrubbed. 

Stairwells

Daily
  • Main lobby stairs are dust-mopped or vacuumed. Small stains are spot-cleaned.
Weekly
  • Stairs separate from main lobbies are swept or vacuumed and spot cleaned.
  • All rails and other level surfaces are dusted.
Monthly
  • All areas of the stairwell are dusted including HVAC vents, window sills, baseboards and fixtures.
