One of the most common functions the University Ombuds performs is to sit with individuals privately to analyze workplace problems, explore perspectives, and brainstorm options. Conflict coaching always starts with non-judgmental listening and establishing the parameters of what the visitor wants to explore. In some cases, next steps involve conflict mapping, options analysis, and role-playing. All is kept confidential and a visitor is under no obligation to employ any options generated.
