Teaching a course in the SPIRaL sequence allows faculty members to use their expertise to create meaningful research experiences for students, thereby furthering their own research. All SPIRaL courses will be team taught, and each team will be expected to build an interdisciplinary course that enables students to achieve the learning outcomes for that level of SPIRaL.
Participating SPIRaL faculty will receive support for helping create course descriptions and shared assessment plans, for participating in development activities, and for recruiting students. Ideally, SPIRaL faculty will maintain a supportive community characterized by the development and sharing of best practices in interdisciplinary research and pedagogy.
