Substantive Changes

Any proposal of a substantive change to an existing program or new academic program must undergo a substantive change review with CSUCI’s accreditor, WSCUC. A substantive change is a change to an institution’s mission, educational programs, scope, control, or organizational structure that needs to be reported to and approved by WSCUC in advance of implementation.

The Vice Provost and Accreditation Liaison Office (ALO) will need to receive a completed substantive change screening form for each of these programs at least 6-9 months in advance of their respective launches. This will enable that office to submit the forms for timely review with WSCUC. Note that this process can run parallel to on campus processes/approvals. The Dean associated with the new or changed program should be copied on communications associated with the substantive change process.

The Vice Provost/ALO will submit the review documents and must receive either a waiver or approval from WSCUC before submitting programs for Chancellor’s Office review, which is required before a new program launches. Please see the links to the forms for each of the programs below:

These are google doc links and the Vice Provost’s office is not automatically alerted when forms are completed. A quick email message informing the ALO that the form is complete is needed to get the process underway.
