The proposing faculty member can request IRA funds, if so desired (see IRA guidelines). IRA’s application process is independent and different to CIA’s approval process, and you have to apply for it separately. However, CIA’s approval is required to obtain IRA funds. In addition, CIA will send the IRA committee CIA’s evaluation of each course and this may be used by the IRA committee in their funding choices.
