To: Students & Employees
Subject: Wind, Heat and Red Flag Warnings
Per the National Weather Service, strong Santa Ana winds, along with heat and red flag warnings have been forecasted throughout Ventura County from Thursday morning to Saturday evening.
As such, Cal State Channel Islands will switch to modified operations. Under modified operations campus remains open; however, instruction and business operations are encouraged to switch to virtual as appropriate. This is a proactive action intended to help reduce constraints on our campus resources and emergency services should they be needed in an emergency.
Students should check their campus email and Canvas regularly for updates from their faculty about the status of their classes.
Residential students can remain on campus, and additional information will be shared with them by Housing & Residential Education.
Employees are encouraged to work remotely and should coordinate their arrangements with their supervisors. Supervisors will communicate to employees who need to report to campus to support residential students or campus operations.
The University will continue to monitor the situation and will provide additional updates.
