The number of CSUCI graduates continues to grow each year, and with that membership in the University’s Alumni & Friends Association (A&FA) is at an all-time high.

The 772-member organization is governed by a board of directors, and on July 1 new board members and officers will begin working toward a list of goals that include enhancing alumni programs and services, continuing to involve alumni in advocacy efforts, supporting the creation of additional chapters of alumni members, and assisting the University with student recruiting efforts.

During the 2006-2007 year, which was July 1 to June 30, the A&FA recorded several milestones. Among the successes of the last year was the installation of the first CSUCI A&FA Chapter formed by the 2006 Master of Business Administration graduates. The group also assisted the Inaugural Freshman Class in fund raising for the first-ever Senior Class Gift at CSUCI.

To continue the successes of the A&FA in the 2007-2008 year, the following individuals will be installed as board officers for the association: Michael L. Silacci, president; Manijeh Motaghy (’05 Psychology), vice president; Terrence M. Towner, treasurer; Sarah M. Hawkins (’04 Liberal Studies), secretary; and Yvette M. Bocz (CSUN-CI, ’02 History), will retire as President and resume the role of Immediate Past President. Outgoing officers are Silacci, treasurer; Philip D. Hampton, secretary. Also, the A&FA welcomes Dennis Muraoka, professor of economics and special assistant to the President for Institutional Effectiveness, who will replace Hampton as faculty board member.

The A&FA operates under the direction of a 20-member board of directors. There are four incoming board members for the 2007-2008. Each director serves a four-year term—Dev Chahil is filling the last year of a vacant position. Below is a list of incoming board members and their respective accomplishments.
