Camarillo, Calif., June 12, 2003 - California State University Channel Islands will no longer accept applications for its teaching credential program for fall 2003. The closing date for admission was June 10. Approximately 162 applications were received for the program, which offers multiple- and single-subject credentialing.

The teaching credential program was the last area at the University to close its application process. Cal State Channel Islands stopped accepting applications for freshmen on December 3 and accepted its last transfer application on May 1. More than 3,600 students applied for admission in fall 2003, the University's second year. About 60 percent of the applicants were seeking a spot in the first freshman class, which may end up with as many as 300 students, about 25 percent more than was initially forecast.

Fall classes begin on August 25.
