Feb. 6, 2024 - Please join us for a special exhibition marking the return of the beloved instructor who built CSUCI’s photography program and mentored students for nearly two decades.

“Larry Lytle’s Wondercamera” is a celebration of the sense of wonder that has inspired more than forty years of artistic practice. The exhibition features a career-spanning “mini-retrospective,” offering a glimpse at the evolution of Lytle’s historic studio practice, alongside the debut of his newest work, “Word * Image * Word” (2023/2024).

Visitors will experience dozens of original photographs on display, including a 10’x10’ installation of his iconic “American Obsessions” series. Larry Lytle’s photography explores the inner machinations of the human psyche, helping us to understand how we fit in the world, and what we are doing to the world. He has exhibited in galleries across the country, and his work is included in numerous private and public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), the Center for Creative Photography.

A free public reception will take place on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m., and the artist will be in attendance. The exhibition is free and open to the public, Mondays through Fridays, from Feb. 15 to March 15.
